This little gem is right on our doorstep, and although we visit regularly for the delicious ice-cream on offer at Kristen's Kickass Ice-cream, we hadn't really discovered the full variety of activities on offer until last Sunday. The weather was gorgeous and we really wanted to spend the day as a family. Work commitments had drained us during the week and we wanted to have some quality time together.
First up, we needed breakfast! Well-known chef Brad Ball has taken over the kitchen at Blockhouse Kitchen. Their new and more affordable menu compared to that of its predecessor make it a great choice for parents looking for a restaurant that offers delicious food and entertainment for the kids. The gorgeous Wooden Elements play area will keep your children busy, while you can enjoy a hearty breakfast made from only the freshest ingredients. Even more exciting news - Blockhouse Kitchen is on The ENTERTAINER! You can get your breakfast for 2-for-1.
Naturally, I had the Eggs Benedict. I consider myself a bit of a 'eggs benny snob'. So many places can't get the right softness to the egg or the correct consistency and taste for the hollandaise sauce. I'd say that Blockhouse Kitchen has perfected this dish and I can't wait to return for round two.
After breakfast, we headed over to the Uitsig Bike Park. What fun! Nunu had the best time. It costs R65 for the full day! It was his first time on the track and he had so much fun. We will definitely return soon. There is coffee for parents too! There are different tracks - so no matter what your child's skills are, there is something for them to enjoy. Nunu is two and was ripping up the kids track to the left. We were so proud of him!
Of course no visit to Constantia Uitsig would be complete without a cone from Kirsten's. Constantia Uitsig has really come together to make it a great stop for a full day of family fun.
